Dear Parents,
I will use a colored “clip chart” to monitor the children’s choices and behavior. Your child will have a clip that they will physically move up or down the chart, depending on his or her choices. Each day the children will begin on green. Please keep in mind that the children may not move every single day. For students to move up, they must go above and beyond in their behavior choices. You may track your child’s behavior through the agenda. This chart below explains how the clip chart works.

If you move to red, you are showing outstanding behavior! You will receive a special honor.
If you move to orange, you have made several excellent choices today.
If you move to yellow, you have made a couple very good choices.
You will start each day on green. This shows you are “ready to learn” and following directions and rules.
If you move to blue, you received reminders about your choices. It is time for you to “think about” your actions.
If you move to purple, the teacher will choose a consequence for your behavior choices.
If you move your clip to pink, your parent will be contacted to let them know about the choices you made today.

I believe this will be a positive way for students to monitor their choices and will give them behavior goals to strive for. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Classroom Incentives: I also have a compliment jar in the classroom. When the class as a “whole” have shown great behavior, I place a few cotton balls in the jar. When the jar is full, the students are able to have lunch in the classroom and watch a short video during lunchtime. A compliment can be earned when another teacher, lunch monitor or administrator compliments the students’ behavior. Special area teachers help contribute to the compliment jar by sharing great behavior seen by our class during art, music, media, or p.e. classes.
Thanks for your support!
